Popularly known by the name “Druk Yul” or “Land of Thunder Dragon”, Bhutan is the Asian Country that lies between China, South East and India. 38,394 square kilometer in its size, having population of nearly 800,000, Bhutan is the country of Himalayan Buddhism and constitutional Monarchy. Officially called “The Kingdom of Bhutan”. Bhutan was unified in 17 century whereas current Wangchuck dynasty started ruling Bhutan since 1907AD. Present King of Bhutan or Druk Gyalpo is “Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck”. Government system is unitary parliamentary semi-constinutional monarchy. Capital and largest city of Bhutan is Thimpu.
Most dominating religion of Bhutan is Himalayan Buddhism follower of which is around 85% and rest others are Hinduism, Bonism, and Christianity etc.
Bhutan is mountain country where many Himalayan mountains including some peaks higher than 7000m can be found. One of them is called Gangkhar Puensum towering 7570m from see level, which is the highest mountain of Bhutan as well as highest unclimbed mountain of the world.
Mountaineering is banned in Bhutan since 2003 AD.
