Trip Overview

Charming, as it is standing at an altitude of 6476m from sea level, Mera peak is one of the best option for any climber who wants to hit hard. It is located south eastern direction from Mt. Everest. Mount Mera is the highest peak below 6500m categorized under trekking peak of Nepal.

Summiting the top, rewards you with unmatched breathtaking horizon of five supreme pinnacles out of six highest mountain peaks of the world and several other higher mountains too. It is going to be a real mountaineering experience as well as life time achievement too. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to climb this mountain. Almost all slope climbing is non-vertical, therefore Mera climbing doesnot require technical skills or climbing experiences. Only few meters to the top are demanding ascend which will be safeguarded by fixed ropes and lines

We will be spending 1night in tented camp on the day of climb and rest will be in tea house lodges.

Jim Roberts and Sen Tenzing are the first mountaineer and explorer who touched the top for the first time in the year 1953. Afterward, many are following his footsteps of standard route to north top till now. North route to the top is the most popular among beginner climbers as western and southern route demands major technical skills and suited for experienced mountaineers.

Mera has the reputation of climbing to check the fitness and preparation before scaling the Mt. Everest and the trend is still on from the time of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenjing Norgay.

Since summit day will be grueling and long, higher level of fitness is compulsory for the safe and successful scaling to the summit.

Trip commence with small aircraft flight of 45minutes to Lukla from Kathmandu and following the classical route of Mera peak is via crossing Zatrawa La pass of 4610m, high altitude glacier, passing through grazing grounds, forests, streams and famous valleys, primitive settlements, antique traditions, cultures and friendly native Sherpas.

The route is off the beaten and very less crowed trail which offers you the high mountain passes, difficult moraine ascending and challenging elevation of the climbing peak itself.

Our climbing leaders will conduct training session covering on sharpening your basic climbing techniques & skills, techniques of perfect ascending and descending through fixed ropes and lines, demonstration showing the best way to use our peak climbing gears like harness, ice axe, crampons, climbing boots along with best use of rope and best suitable climbing techniques.

Morning, we will have breakfast and leave for domestic airport. 45mintues flight to lukla is going to be one of the lifetime experience. Lukla airport situated at the altitude of 2800m is bit short because of its locality in the middle of high mountains and the runway is slightly inclined too to let aircrafts get extra thrust for speed up for flying and braking too while stoping.
We will get our local area permit/national park permit and launch trek for Mera peak.
While heading toward our first night halt place called Chhu Tang, we will cross numerous Sherpa settlements and passing of prayer wheels, mani walls along with the ridges of Kalo Himal following the stream/river.
Overnight in Chhu tang.

Breakfast and continue journey to Thuli Kharka. Difficult part of the day will be our Steep trailed Zatrawa La Pass. Hard and strenuous climb will take us to the top of 4610m view point.
From the pass top, first best view of the Khumbu Mountains including Mt. Numbur, Mt. Kongde, Lumding, Karyolang etc.
Descend down to reach Thuli kharka passing pastoral lands for yak’s grazing, khartetang. Kharka meaning pastoral ground in local language which also justifies the name (large) Thuli Kharka. Place offers several numbers of tea house lodges of mountain basic category.

Day is full of excitements as trail leads to numerous adventurous sites of ups and downs through the mountain forests of Oaks, different colored
rhododendrons, Pines and many. Strenuous ascent will take you to the entrance of beautiful Hinku Valley. From here you can have the beautiful first glance of Mera Peak including other mountains. You will go steep descend down to reach the Hinku river valley. Another demanding ascent to the other side of the valley will grant you the place Kothe after crossing Sano khola, our night halt destination of having handful numbers of tea house lodges.

Walking through the ridge along with the Hinku river, trail takes you to the beautiful place called Gondi Shung. Area also houses old and beautiful Lungsungba Gonpa. We will pray for the success of our Mera Climbing with butter lamp offerings and khada(silk offerings). There is a rock where art of Mera peak and its route is carved on it.

From beyond Gondishun, easy trail will lead us to our overnight destination Thangnak, a grazing ground offering amazing southern face of Mera peak and offers the beautiful view of western Khumbu and its primitive tea houses and shops.

Trek for the day is going to be hard and tough. Exhausting difficult walk through the steep moraine from Dig glacier to Dig Kharka with the rewarding view of Mt. Charpate will ultimately test your fitness. Crossing Hinku Nup and Shar glacier, gives you another major challenge to ascend even steeper, strenuous and longer way to reach Khare on the other side of the highland. Enjoy the beautiful north face of Mera Peak. Lunch and roam around.

This additional day at the altitude of 5045m is solely set aside for the acclimatization purpose minimizing the high risk of altitude sickness. Day is
also very important as it is the day for the basic training and polishing the climbing skills to prepare ourselves even better to achieve our ultimate target, conquering Mera peak.
Our climbing leader will assist you on sharpening your basic climbing techniques and demonstration showing the best way to use our peak climbing gears like harness, ice axe, crampons, climbing boots along with best use of rope and best suitable climbing techniques.

This day we will walk through the glacier trails. Trail is steep and hard and even difficult because of glacier walk. We reach Mera basecamp and trek further even steeper trail to reach Mera La pass. Have to be careful with crevasses at the area. We climb further the steeper slope to reach High camp.

We set up campsite there for your rest from where excellent views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu and several many are greeting us from around. Spectate the wonderful closer view of Stars sparkling above in the sky.

The most important day to scale the summit has come. You will have to wake up early in the morning at 2AM, have delicious breakfast and heat the way to the top. You have to reach to the top before noon as after 12pm, strong wind will disturb and increase lot difficulties for the climb. Throughout the way is mild steeper except while reaching to the top, about 100m steeper slope climbing just below from the top may demand some technical skills.
From the summit breathtaking sceneries of highest mountains including Eight-Thousanders Mt. Everest(8848.86m), Mt. Kanchenjunga(8586m), Mt. Lhotse(8516m), Mt. Makalu(8463m), Mt. Cho Oyu(8210m), Nuptse(7855m), Chamlang(7319m), Baruntse(7129m) and many more.

Excellent company and Satisfied our every request
